Investigation on Wire Electrochemical Discharge Micro-Machining

With the development of MEMS, machining demand and requirements for difficult-to-machine metal micro parts are getting higher. Microelectric discharge is an effective method to process metals. However, recast layer caused by high temperatures in microelectric affects properties machined materials. Here, we propose wire electrochemical micro-machining (WECDMM) develop a new electrolyte system, which removes layer. In this study, mechanism WECDMM was elucidated. The optimized through comparison experiment, NaNO3-glycol solution determined as best electrolyte. influences key parameters including conductivity electrolyte, pulse voltage, pulse-on time feed rate were analyzed on slit width, standard deviation, radius fillet at entrance roughness. Typical microstructures machined, verified ability WECDMM.
